The latest

Invitations? Check.
Guest list? Working on it.
Obligatory emotional breakdown? Check.

It came on unexpectedly, as all emotional breakdowns do, but I suppose it'd been building for weeks. The final straw was a deceptively sweet looking old lady at a bridal boutique who told me that bridesmaids' dresses for less than $120 did not exist, at least not in her shop. And she wasn't very polite about it, either. Right then and there I decided I was done. Done trying to decide what style would look nice on everyone. Done trying to search for purple dresses at reasonable prices. Done playing the wedding planning game. I was just done.

Poor Justin had to try to decipher my emotional rantings over a poorly-connected cell phone, but he handled it like a champ. We quickly arrived at a wonderful solution, one that allowed me to retain both my sanity and my drive to continue with wedding planning. The girls would pick out their own dresses, and the dresses would be black.

All is well now and we can move on to other things, like finalizing the guest list and renting the chairs. Much less glamorous, but important, nonetheless. Slowly but surely, it's all getting done.

  1. did you check nordstrom.com they have a wedding shop - just click on it in the left column and then put in the color you are looking for - they have a bunch of purple dresses on sale for like $70. Just thought that that might help. If you are getting married in town and want a good/inexpensive florist let me know :)

  2. Way to make it through an emotional breakdown. Good solution as well. Also, you should definitely complain about that lady.
