Perpetrator Accountability

"So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me." - Malachi 3:5

One of the very unique things about IJM is that we don't only rescue people; we seek complete justice, which includes perpetrator accountability.

It is important to fully restore the victims of crimes.  Part of that is punishing those who commit the crimes.  Please keep this in your prayers.  We want this aspect to bring peace to the victim, punishment to the offender, and overall deterrence and rule of law in society

In addition, please pray for those who are found guilty and sent to prison.  Pray that they may turn from evil and toward God even in that unlikely place.

"Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?'" - Ezekiel 33:11

Finally, I want to encourage you to visit the people in prison.  If anybody needs a light in darkness, it is people in prison.  Write letters, join a prison ministry, focus your prayers on these men, women, and children as well.  Prison is a horrible place in the United States or abroad.

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 

 The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:34-40
