Friday I joined a group of English-speakers for a trip up to Bokaew for English Camp. Bokaew is a small village east of Chiang Mai way up in the mountains. The missionary team in Chiang Mai has a relationship with the village through a Christian family that lives there. Periodically, when there are a lot of farang ("farang" is the Thai word for foreigner) in town one of the missionaries hauls them all up the mountain to put on an English Camp at the local school in Bokaew. The drive up is not for the faint of heart, or weak of stomach, especially from the back of a pick-up truck. But the view is gorgeous, and well worth all the jolts and bumps and hairpin curves. On this particular occasion we had a group of Aggies for Christ, a LST team, the ACU missions interns, some visiting parents, several Thai Christians, and me.
